You're right to take care of yourself Mary, and I know your decision about LS will be the right one as well. Like others have said, you've been a true encouragement to them, and to me as well. I do appreciate it!

Well, crap. I just found out I had the highest grade on the torts midterm, which counts v. the others which don't. Now I want to stay. I've been ill for 5 days, talked to dr. every day, and I don't think this is due to law school.

I haven't signed any papers. What to do? LP will be late, and get 'professionalism' pts taken off. She already dinged me for missing a presentation when I had an eye lesion, had rx from dr. for 'light duty', a rx to show her, and cell phone record.

Opinions?

There is also, in the ADA office, an accommodation for reduction in class load. If I can take LP next year after a full summer, I'm staying in. As of now, have not burnt any bridges. Just threw my housemate out, changed keys and codes. Fortunately, he didn't know he could have waited for the sheriff to evict him.

Hey KD,

I don't have any advice to offer, but Congrats on the Torts grade. No matter what you decide to do, that grade is something to be proud of.

KD - you just made me laugh so hard! Do you realize that you prefaced the post that you got the highest grade on the torts midterm with "oh crap". Only a law student could get their head so screwed around by the process that this sentence warranted an "oh crap".

My opinion? Stay. Stay and do whatever you have to do to get past that LRW course. SUck it up to the prof. Go in there and tell her how smart she is. Kiss her ass. Just get it done so that you pass. You jsut got the highest damn grade on teh torts mid-term. YOU ARE GETTING IT!!!!!!!!

Now, for my tough advice....stop comparing this to vet school (or any other education for that matter). It is different on so many levels and you should not frustrate yourself with the inefficiency and confusion of law school. It is what it is. Roll with it and stop trying to make sense of it because you can't.

And here is the really tough advice. No one cares if you are sick and don't expect anything because you are. (I care and this baord cares, but we are not your professors) I know lots of law schools are accomodating about this. Mine was not and, I suspect, neither is your law school. My school's attitude was "Sick? That is what the 6 days off that we allow you each semester is for." Go past the 6 days for whatever reason and too bad. Do not present it as an excuse. Do not expect any professor to cut you any slack no matter how much sense it would make to do so. Because, quite frankly, your clients and judges won't do it in the future (well, some will, but for the most part, you are expected to be there and be prepared or damn well get someone to cover for you).

Most important, though is YOU JUST SCORED THE HIGHEST GRADE ON THE TORTS MID-TERM!!!!! That is so great. UNless you are pretty damn sure you will have a mental health breakdown if you do so, you should stay. Stay and tough it out. One class at a time. One day at a time. One week at a time. One semester at a time. GO KD!!!!!

And KD - when you graduate from law school - I swear I will fly down to Texas and hold your hand through every step of the bar exam and you will pass that too.

KD -

I'll fourth the others' motions.

Might I send you a copy of a book or two that might help, if not in terms of specifics then perhaps in terms of coming to peace with the beast that is law school? If nothing else it will make for light reading on Thanksgiving eve. (...if not spooky reading on All Hallow's Eve. = : )

Thane.

Um, KD, I'm not sure what more of a sign you can expect than your Tort's exam grade ;\)

Only you can know, KD. But oldlawgirl gives very good advice if you want to stay. Congratulations on the high grade. That is an accomplishment to be proud of no matter what you decide to do.
