I found LEEWS to offer some structure to an otherwise very wishy-washy and (purposefully I might add) murky system of "learing how to learn the law". While most people don't stick to the system wholehearedly the entire time, finding what "works for them", it certainly gives you somewhere to start, and more importantly, a way to STAY FOCUSED.
One of the things that I noticed about the "older" students generally (not all, but many) was that they tended to stray off the tiny little issues of law that each case is asking you to focus on and instead got caught up in the larger more "sexy" but irrelevant issues presented. If they would teach law-school with a Barbri outline it would be a heck of a lot easier to pass your classes (and the bar), but admittedly there would be a lot of lawyers out there who didn't know how to read a case or write a brief to save their life!

Viral indeed! I've been doing LEEWS this week at the law library. It's quiet there, and no one is around except my civ pro prof who I guess never leaves the building. He's cool.
LEEWS is making a lot of sense, and I understand ALL of what I fumbled with during the summer program.
Next week is orientation-I don't have to go to all of it, but definitely repeating tech stuff. Haven't had some of tech stuff anyway like wireless printing. Computer has a new battery, and I found this cool device to put under it to keep it cool. Made by Logitech, it plugs into the computer with a USB port, and it has a quiet fan.
The roller I bought two years ago is not big enough. The one I bought when I couldn't find the roller (my golf buddy had put inside a bigger suitcase) makes me look like a traveling salesman, but I'm not shlepping all this stuff and carrying it up and down stairs. The library puts the 1Ls in the basement with the bats.
Hair cut today, LEEWS pm, then evening workout. I should go to Zumba again. The folks in the class do it both times. I'm not sure it's a good thing for a "hip" chick.
Should hear by Monday about summer grades. I just hope to pass. If not, it's only 2 credits.
Cheers from KD, 1L.

Hi folks! I can't believe people are still looking at this thread, I had to comment. 16,000 hits.
The KD is doing fine finishing first semester of 1L. Sitting here at my new home, taking a break from studying for the first test. It comes via email, and we have 10 hours to complete it. It isn't a 10 hour test, but a four hour test we are given ten hours to do. My favorite class. Civil Procedure. Most hate it, it's the toughest, but I love it. Legal Practice finished last week with the client letter. Torts is Friday, and K is next Monday.
Gotta get focused on Torts-way too much time spent on Tuesday's final. I think gentle reviewing is in order now, then hit it for Torts and Contracts.
For any of you who doubt that law school is worth it-pm me. I have loved every minute. I am 35 years older than most of my classmates, have no idea of what those really nice people think of me, and don't really care. I'm just glad my section is full of intelligent, polite and kind people. I haven't heard a rude word yet from anyone, faculty, staff, or students.
This is one lovely law school in an isolated city that is a dream to live in-warm, sunny, inexpensive (excluding Texas taxes) and wonderful people.
It has been a new start to my life. My husband's family ditched me, my sister is taking of my horses in Arizona, and it is nice when I can spend a day home with no phone calls.
Do consider my school! The biggest benefactor, Mark Lanier, who is a gozillionairre, likes to point out that he was a C student here. I concur.
Good luck on your law school cycles for all you hopefuls, on finals to the law students, and to the attorneys, keep on sending us advice.
Take care from the KD.

KD, after our discussion a few weeks ago on the phone and careful thought, I am going to go ahead and apply. Would be nice to have a friendly "face" if I go to TTU.....
But, I also understand that I have *NO* idea of the stress you are under. Follow your heart and you head will follow.....

I'm resurrecting this post so people can read about the journey, and maybe give some advice.
I had to pull out again due to meds and illness. I have the 'go' to re-enter again. That would be my third start.
My question: at what point does one look pathetic?
Each day brings a new emotion. Each day brings a new plan. There are three. Move back to Fort Collins and be a busy retiree. Start law school again (remember I have the ADA accommodations) and also try to get into a surgical tech program for which one needs a HS diploma.
This is not the time to make decisions.
By the way, I welcomed Kona Jean into my world. She's a red Siberian Husky puppy which came from California. She's an awesome dog. Got her just around the 2.5 years after Tipper's death. Kona is my third husky, the first on my own. Lotta work for a huge pup. I thought my hip would be strong enough, but now I wonder.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah from the KD.
why would you want to be a surg tech when you are already a vet?
Retire unless you need money.

Well, the KD went up to Fort Collins for a conference and meetings, and ended up finding a house. Closes May 1 after I turn 59.5. Room for the puppy monster, and also an opportunity to de-clutter my stuff here.
My home in TX would be double in FC, so a few bucks were involved.
The pup was boarded for 10 days, and came back respecting the gate that has her in the kitchen when I need her to be in the morning.
So, my long law school journey has ended. I'll lurk and encourage those of you who have the dream. Do apply to TTU. It really is a good school. I just don't have the type of brain to study law. Just came back from a vet conference. I understood every word. It's not a matter of intelligence, just the type of thinking.
Cheers from the KD.
well I'm not moving halfway across the country with no friends there!
GL to you KD!
