Howdy friends,

Well, the admit. dean from the Texas school that everyone said was a reach phoned me a little while ago to invite me to the summer program. I asked him if grades were contingent upon being admitted and was told, no, I was admitted, and that I just had to take the class. I guess they want to see if I can survive West Texas in summer.

Well, it's Laramie in winter for MSW, or Lubbock in summer for JD. Cowboys or Red Raiders. What's your choice?

Emailed the dean of other school. That was fun. He's really a nice guy, and has nothing to do with admissions.

Now I have two exciting things to consider. Have pretty much committed to UW, but I sure could use some advice!

High fives!

I've been reading your saga with admissions since I first started on this board, so I don't know if it helps having my advice or not but here it is.... Go to law school if you have the chance. You've worked so hard to get to this point.

Whatever decision you make, I'm sure it will be the right one for you!

Thanks, Frezzy.

It's been quite the soap opera, hasn't it?

This was like getting into Harvard for me. The summer entry program is a free, 20 student program for people like me who have been out of academics for awhile. Not a dummy program. I'm in.

Problem is, they want a seat deposit in one week, and my husband's surgery is on the 20th. A $300 gamble, I guess.

Congratulations - that's so great!!

I can't give any advice on which to do - so much depends on your personal situation and what you're willing to do - but what a great feeling!

(and my best wishes for your husband's health, by the way.)

Thanks, Anna!

Yeah, it's pretty heady stuff right now. Seat deposit before E's surgery, though.

If his health doesn't turn out well, I'd stay close.

Good luck finishing your year.

WOO!!! That is awesome Mary. I would just like to take this moment to say "I TOLD YOU SO!" I just had a feeling about Texas Tech for you for some reason.

It's a tough decision for sure, but I really hope you choose to go to law school. You've wanted it so badly.

Congratulations, Mary. I'm so very happy for you. Should your husband's health permit it, I say go to law school-- that's where you belong.

Thanks, Iceborer-I guess we aren't using names unless printed anymore.

The summer thing is cool. July 13, then right into orientation. They do like a mini-law school. Free, and 2 credits for electives. But wait, there's more! $1500 stipend for living expenses for the summer.

Did you get a place finalized out here? If so, come on up to Fort Fun.

Happy Easter, Good Pesach!

Hahaha, I sometimes sign and sometimes don't, but I don't mind having my name used. We're working on getting our house sold and may be for a few months while I continue working at a paying job until August. We may move out early if we sell soon, though, and I'll just work remotely from a mountainside lair.

I know that I would have enjoyed a summer course if I weren't coming right out of school (as I am) just to get me back in the swing of things.

Best,

Adam

You're welcome to use my name. I just stopped using it years ago because there was an actual username of "Greg," and he asked me to stop signing my messages. So, I did.

That is so awesome Mary! Glad to hear it. Considering all that went into it, I hope you go. Best of luck either way, though.

OK, Greg! One person I'm close to on the board asked me not to, and Brodle mentioned it also. I like the first name thing, but I have to agree that there have been some creepy things on the board lately. Possibly gone.

I have been advised to pay the seat deposit. Due the 17th. E's sx is the 20th. Why not?

Living is as cheap in Lubbock as Laramie.

Still in the MSW program there. I love Laramie!

Adam,

I think the summer entry program is perfect. Get finely tuned for fall. Yes, I've been out of intense study other than research. And, this is not conditional-I'm in!

Folks, the KD has dreamed of posting The Kittydoctor is IN! Like Lucy and her psychiatrist booth. Real in.

So, did you confirm here for school? If so, you and your wife and we should get together. Old Town Fort Fun is a blast.

What a day!

Marleen,

You have been so awesome throughout all of this. I have watched your career with admiration. I want to be you when I grow up.

Are you sure you don't want to meet the President whenever we get called?

GO CUBS!

Oh yeah, folks,

Just to rationalize. I read constantly on my Kindle to practice for studies in fall. Boy, I sure love it. Get one. Too cool. I've downloaded so many books, I feel like I have a library. Then I get stressed and order a Danielle Steele brainless book.

Check out My Stroke of Insight and My Lobotomy.

Love it, love it, love it!

Mary - Congratulations! I come here daily to see if there's a message from you, what I nice surprise to see it tonight.

I say if your hubby's health permits, go to law school so you never wonder, "What if?" If you find it's not for you, I'll bet you could still get into the other program.

Well Mary, it seems like a no-brainer to me. Though I'm not sure, judging from your contributions and your posts here I believe you've wanted to go to LS longer than you've wanted an MSW.
Congratulations!!!
